The Ariel KBU and KBZ are powerful large-frame reciprocating gas compressors within Ariel’s premium KB Series, engineered for high-horsepower, continuous-duty gas compression in severe midstream and industrial service. These frames are specifically designed for large-volume, high-pressure applications such as pipeline transmission, underground storage, and gas injection. The KBU offers a robust balance of high rod load, stroke, and horsepower capacity, while the KBZ is an ultra-heavy-duty frame, delivering one of the highest rods loads and displacements available in Ariel’s separable compressor line. Both frames support up to 6 throws and 6 cylinders, allowing flexible configurations for multi-stage gas compression. Featuring long stroke lengths, reinforced crosshead and crankshaft designs, and API 618 compliance, these models are ideally suited for the most demanding gas compression environments. They are typically driven by large industrial electric motors or high-output gas engines like the CAT 3616 or Waukesha 275GL.
