The Detroit DD16 engine is the largest and most powerful engine Detroit has ever built, designed to deliver exceptional performance with a wide, flat torque curve. Its 15.6-liter displacement — the largest on-highway engine from Detroit — allows it to handle heavy loads with ease, making it perfect for tackling the toughest jobs and pulling massive loads uphill. The engine also features turbo compounding, which recovers heat from the exhaust to transform lost potential energy into additional power. With its wide torque curve, the engine pulls strongly even below 1000 RPM. The DD16 is equipped with the Next Generation Amplified Common Rail System (ACRS) to optimize combustion control, improving downhill control and reducing stopping distances. Detroit offers a range of new engines that meet EPA, CARB emissions, GHG, and OBD requirements.
