The MAN B&W L V48/60CR is a high-performance, medium-speed, four-stroke marine propulsion engine featuring common rail (CR) fuel injection technology. It is available in both inline (L) and V-type (V) configurations, offering outstanding fuel efficiency, flexible operation, and precise control over combustion. This engine produces approximately 1,200 kW per cylinder, with total power output ranging from 7,200 kW (6L) to 19,200 kW (16V) depending on the configuration. The engine delivers very high torque values—estimated between 90,000 Nm to 240,000 Nm—providing reliable propulsion for large vessels under variable load conditions. The 48/60CR is optimized for operation with marine diesel oil (MDO) and heavy fuel oil (HFO), and can be configured for IMO Tier II compliance, with Tier III achieved via SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems. Its main applications include cruise ships, ferries, container feeders, LNG carriers, and naval auxiliary ships, where performance, fuel flexibility, and emissions control are vital. The advanced common rail system enhances load response, reduces smoke emissions, and allows for optimized fuel injection across the full engine load range.
