The MAN B&W L V32/40 TCF is a medium-speed, four-stroke marine propulsion engine designed with TCF (Tuned Constant Pressure) turbocharging, which enhances fuel efficiency, improves transient response, and optimizes performance under steady-state loads. Available in both inline (L) and V-type (V) configurations, the engine delivers approximately 480–500 kW per cylinder, translating to total power output ranging from 2,880 kW (6L) to 12,000 kW (20V). It generates high torque values in the range of 30,000 Nm to 120,000 Nm, supporting robust propulsion in large commercial vessels. The TCF turbocharging system provides a more uniform exhaust gas flow to the turbocharger, improving thermal efficiency and responsiveness across different load profiles. This engine is built to run on marine diesel oil (MDO) or heavy fuel oil (HFO) and meets IMO Tier II emission standards as standard. For IMO Tier III compliance, especially in Emission Control Areas (ECAs), the engine can be equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. Applications include cargo ships, ferries, RoPax vessels, offshore supply ships, and medium-sized cruise vessels, where reliable propulsion, strong load acceptance, and compliance with emissions regulations are essential. The 32/40 TCF variant is especially suitable for ships operating on consistent duty cycles or requiring high efficiency under constant-speed conditions.
