The MAN B&W L+V49/60 is a powerful medium-speed, four-stroke marine diesel engine designed for heavy-duty propulsion applications. Available in both inline (L) and V-type (V) configurations, this engine series delivers approximately 1,150 kW per cylinder, with total output ranging from 5,750 kW (5L) to over 23,000 kW (20V). The engine provides very high torque across its operational range, estimated between 75,000 Nm to 300,000 Nm, enabling it to drive large propellers efficiently even in demanding sea conditions. Operating purely on diesel or heavy fuel oil, the 49/60 engine is optimized for fuel economy and long service life, making it suitable for a variety of vessels including cruise ships, ferries, cargo vessels, and offshore support ships. It complies with IMO Tier II emission standards and can be upgraded to Tier III with the integration of SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems, offering flexibility in emission compliance for global operations.
