The Wartsila 32DF is a four-stroke, medium-speed dual-fuel marine engine designed to offer high efficiency, fuel flexibility, and environmental compliance. It can run on LNG (natural gas), marine diesel oil (MDO), and heavy fuel oil (HFO), with seamless switching between fuels under load. The engine is available in in-line (6L, 8L, 9L) and V-type (12V, 16V, 18V) configurations, delivering a power range of 3,000 to 9,800 kW at 720 or 750 rpm. The Wartsila 32DF complies with IMO Tier II in liquid fuel mode and IMO Tier III when operating on gas, without the need for SCR. It is commonly used in ferries, offshore vessels, gas carriers, and hybrid marine power systems.
