The Wartsila 34DF is a high-efficiency, four-stroke, medium-speed dual-fuel engine designed for marine propulsion and auxiliary power applications. It can operate on natural gas (LNG), marine diesel oil (MDO), or heavy fuel oil (HFO), offering excellent fuel flexibility and seamless switching between fuels under full load. Available in in-line (6L, 8L, 9L) and V-type (12V, 16V, 20V) configurations, the engine produces between 2,880 and 10,000 kW at 720 or 750 rpm. The Wartsila 34DF meets IMO Tier II when running on diesel and IMO Tier III when running on gas—without the need for SCR. It is widely used in ferries, Ro Pax vessels, offshore support ships, and LNG carriers.
