The Wartsila 50DF is a large, four-stroke, medium-speed dual-fuel engine designed for high-output marine propulsion and power generation, particularly suited for LNG carriers and power barges. It operates flexibly on natural gas (LNG), marine diesel oil (MDO), and heavy fuel oil (HFO), enabling seamless fuel switching under load. Available in V-type (12V, 16V, 18V, 20V) and in-line (6L, 8L, 9L) configurations, the engine delivers between 5,700 and 17,500 kW at 500 or 514 rpm. The Wartsila 50DF meets IMO Tier II on liquid fuels and achieves IMO Tier III in gas mode without SCR, making it a prime engine for large vessels operating in Emission Control Areas (ECAs).
