The MAN B&W ME-C series is a state-of-the-art, electronically controlled, low-speed, two-stroke marine diesel engine range developed by MAN Energy Solutions. The ME-C engines are an advancement over the traditional MC-C engines, featuring electronic control of fuel injection and exhaust valve actuation, which improves fuel efficiency, reduces emissions, and enables optimized engine performance across a wider load range. These engines are available in bore sizes from 35 cm up to 98 cm offering a power output ranging from 3,000 kW to over 80,000 kW depending on the cylinder configuration and bore. Maximum torque values exceed 5,000 to 10,000 kNm, depending on the model and stroke length. The ME-C engines meet IMO Tier II standards by default, with further versions (ME-GI or ME-LGI variants) adapted to meet IMO Tier III through SCR or EGR technologies. These engines are widely used as main propulsion units in large ocean-going vessels such as container ships, crude oil tankers, bulk carriers, and LNG carriers, offering high thermal efficiency.
